Yasuhiro MORINAGA

Yasuhiro Morinaga, a Japanese artist, engages in fieldwork on the relationship between technology and human culture in indigenous societies through ethnography, and creates sound installations and performance works, as well as publications. Morinaga published field recordings of gong music played by almost fifty indigenous groups in Southeast Asia, titled “Exploring Gong Culture of Southeast Asia (published by SubRosa)”, with the introduction by renowned music critic David Toop. In addition to his artistic works, Morinaga has worked on a number of Asian independent films as a sound designer and music director. His approaches have often resulted in his presenting at international film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, and among others. Currently, Morinaga lives in Portugal.
